The Mullum Mullum Trail

The Mullum Mullum Trail

The Linear Park along Mullum Mullum Creek
bordering Warrandyte

Joy and I on wheels, Jem and Zsuzsanna beside,
We set off along the walking trail to Reynolds Road.
A beautiful summer evening in the city, but countrified.
The perfect place to go into relaxation mode.

White corellas chatter loudly, discussing the day,
Magpies quench their thirst from Mullum Mullum Creek,
Remnant bushland borders the stream, a space to play,
Where feeding wallabies from scrublands quietly peek.

Houses set back from the path minimise people’s impact
On this bushland wonderland. As a full moon rises
We retrace our steps, refreshed, our spirits intact
Uplifted, thoroughly enjoying nature’s surprises.

A tawny frogmouth swooped through the gathering gloom
Making all of us duck, claiming its patch we presume.
