Springtime

The equinox has been and gone
But winter weather lingers on.
The cold winds blow on many days,
While warmer times are kept at bay.
The rain clouds loom but don’t arrive,
And yet the driveway garden thrives
As flowers bloom, - a sheer delight,
So must be doing something right!

The banksia rose is on display,
A welcome sight from day to day,
As blooms extend across the fence.
The wisteria gives the sense,
Although enduring wind each day,
That spring has finally come to stay.
The roses show their bright new blooms,
Relief from winter’s greyish gloom.

A most intriguing sight for me
Is when our young crab apple trees
Transform as branches come alive,
When buds emerge, begin to thrive,
They grow and soon intensify,
Upward, upwards, towards the sky,
As spring assumes a firm foothold,
A magic picture, -as life unfolds.

Decide to end my time indoors
Outside can offer so much more.
Enjoy the pleasure of being me
Outside in gardens, feeling free
Increasing sunshine warms my back,
Refreshed, uplifted, back on track,
Another season I behold,
Another joy when growing old.
