Our Second Man Down: Vale Ken
Vale Ken Hunt, former Assistant Principal at Lauderdale,
Retired as long time Principal of Margate Primary School.
Ken’s acting skills with Riverside Arts for some years did prevail,
While his lead singing in male choirs was certainly memorable.
Lead singer in the Deep South Chorus, Silvertones, Wellingtones,
Auld Acquaintance, Hobart Men’s Barbershop Harmony Club Inc.,
And Close Shave in which Ken sang and was in Hobart so well known.
When he started to forget the words his world began to shrink.
I remember when both my deputies disappeared from school,
No one knew where they had gone, they certainly hadn’t told me.
An unsold item from The Fair, was missing. They’d been resourceful.
When I went home, a rubber tyre swan swung gently from my tree!
At Thursday Sippers now, we are confronted by an empty chair,
For our friend, and former colleague, Ken, is no longer there!
