There was a time when I was young and strong,
Enjoying the challenges that lay before,
Loading trucks, tossing hay bales all day long,
Enjoying country life, the people, and more.
A ruckman, representing the district, -
Football was my passion, basketball too,
Premierships impossible to predict,
In my youthful days there was much to do
Sixty years with Joy, two lovely sons,
A daughter in-law, grand kids, camps in tents,
Teaching in schools, sailing in the warm sun,
So much to do, the years just came and went.
Supported by crutches, enjoying my prime,
Stooped, I walk into the headwinds of time.
