The Boundary Rider
In Australia’s vast outback
Where the land is red and dry
Where the land extends forever,
To meet with an azure sky.
Across this vast sunburnt country,
Boundary riders roam wide,
Checking stock-food, water, fences,
Many other things beside.
Parents are very important
In their children’s lives,
Setting expectations for each,
Being firm and positive.
Parents as boundary riders
Ensure behaviour rules
Are fairly administered,
And just not left for schools.
Parents are the key role models
Impacting children’s futures,
Showing them how they can relate
To others, as they mature;
Being considerate, helpful,
Showing respect for others,
Becoming responsible persons,
Enjoying one-another.
Set children’s boundaries early,
Consistency is the key,
Expectations are essential.
No-one would say it’s easy!
Just be prepared to make a start.
You can do it if you try,
Enjoy each other’s company
And years together just fly!
