Keyless! A poem of despair

The Supascootateers and friends
Picnicked at National Park
The day was fine, the rain held off,
- Just perfect for a lark!

Sandwiches seemed to be the food
Of choice, sausages for some.
The banter flowed and laughter too,
Oh, how happy they’d become!

Scooters unloaded by the cars,
They all readied for the ride,
When Carl, with anguish on his face,
Cried,” I’ve left my keys behind!”

Carl searched his car and manbag too,
But those keys were never brought.
Lew’s keys wouldn’t fit Carl’s scooter,
Poor Carl was rather fraught!

Bill’s scooter keys fitted Carl’s machine,
But he’d left his spare at home!
A lot of good that was to Carl –
With his friends he could not roam.

Gerald lent Carl his scooter,
He took pity on his plight,
Which Carl accepted graciously
Much to everyone’s delight.

But there the story did not end,
A hundred metres up the track
Carl’s borrowed scooter died#!
‘Twas one more unwanted Whack!

When batteries were interchanged,
Carl suffered another blow!
The scooter maintained its ground,
Stubbornly refused to go!

For two long days Carl searched his home
For the keys that he’d mislaid.
Fortunately the keys were found
And safer provisions made.
